A lady was killed in an alligator assault Friday at a South Carolina pond.

Cynthia Covert, 58, died after encountering the gator on Kiawah Island round 5 p.m., a seaside and golf resort on the Atlantic Coast, in response to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Workplace and native experiences.

A deputy witnessed the assault and shot and killed the gator, NBC Information reported.

An investigation is ongoing and the circumstances across the assault weren’t instantly clear.

Alligator assaults in South Carolina are uncommon, in response to the Charleston Put up and Courrier.
