Scorpions singer says iconic ballad ‘Wind of Change’ was not written by CIA

The lead singer of Scorpions has dismissed rumors that the band’s 1990 energy ballad “Wind of Change” was written by the CIA as a bit of Chilly Battle propaganda.

Klaus Meine appeared on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation” the place he defined that he was interviewed by a reporter from the New Yorker for a podcast investigating the hit music.

The journalist, Patrick Radden Keefe, was wanting into theories that the CIA collaborated with the German hair steel band to create ballad that will change the world.

“And it was concerning the Moscow Music Peace Competition, about ‘Wind of Change’ — however that is what this interview was all about,” Meine stated on “Trunk Nation.”

“And in the course of the interview, he goes like, ‘Klaus, you ever heard the story that ‘Wind of Change’ was written by the CIA?’ And I cracked up laughing, I completely cracked up laughing.”

Though he thought the thought was humorous, the Scorpions singer stated it was faux information.

“I assumed it was very amusing and I simply cracked up laughing. It’s a really entertaining and actually loopy story however like I stated, it’s not true in any respect,” he added. “Such as you American guys would say, it’s faux information.”
