Phil Jackson and longtime girlfriend Jeanie Buss broke up in 2016 after a four-year engagement. The couple introduced the information through a joint assertion citing the “geographic distance” as a significant purpose for the choice.
“With mutual love and respect, we’ve determined to finish our engagement,” the previous couple mentioned, per ESPN. “With the character of our skilled obligations and the geographic distance between us, sustaining the connection has been troublesome. We have now shared many great moments via the years, and we count on to stay supportive of one another.”
Based on ESPN, the couple began relationship in 1999 when Jackson was teaching the Lakers and have become engaged over the Christmas vacation in 2012. On the time, Jackson was the Knicks president, whereas Buss was working the Lakers. Buss later admitted that the breakup was attempting in an emotional interview with the Los Angeles Instances in 2017.
“There’s no crying in basketball!” Buss advised the Los Angeles Instances. “It’s been onerous for him there [with the Knicks]. Now, it’s like, he would have been the pillar that I might depend on.”
